Event Trigger
The Event Trigger is designed for advertisers who want to reach a specific audience in the physical world: at the right place, at the right moment.
By conditioning delivery on the presence of real-world events near your screens, you ensure your ads are only shown when a relevant audience is actually there.
It is particularly powerful for national or multi-market campaigns: a single Line Item can activate simultaneously across different countries and a multitude of event types — conferences, sports, concerts, live shows, and more, wherever a matching event is detected.
Trigger Coverage
- Geography: 🇫🇷 France, 🇩🇪 Germany, 🇪🇸 Spain, 🇧🇪 Belgium only.
- If your geographic targeting in Step 2 does not include screens in one of these countries, the Event trigger panel will not appear in Step 3.
- Event data source: PredictHQ — categories include concerts, sports, conferences, festivals, community events, and more
- Broadcast radius: Determined by PredictHQ based on location and venue type — ranges from ~1km to ~10km (avg ~4km). The radius is not configurable by the user.
- Granularity: Targeting works at the event category/subcategory level. It is not possible to target a specific named event (e.g. Solidays Festival).
How to configure the Event trigger
In Step 3 (Buying), under the Triggering section, click the Events (+€0.70 CPM) button.
A searchable dropdown appears, organized by categories and subcategories:
- Selecting a category automatically selects all its subcategories
- Multi-selection is available across categories and subcategories
- Search filters subcategories only — category titles are not searchable
- Each subcategory displays in parentheses the number of matching events based on your targeting
- Categories/subcategories with no events are non-selectable
- From 3 subcategories selected, the label shows "3 items selected" — hover to see the full list
- Categories are sorted alphabetically

💡 The frame selection and forecast update dynamically with every change to your event selection.
The Summary (Step 5) displays the selected trigger with categories and subcategories separated by semicolons.

CPM Surcharge
Activating the Event trigger applies a +€0.70 CPM surcharge automatically as soon as at least one subcategory is selected.
Trigger Temporality
A frame is activated when an event is detected within the PredictHQ broadcast radius of the screen.
The activation window is: 3 hours before the start and 3 hours after the end of the event.
Combining Triggers
The Event trigger follows the same OR/AND logic as other triggers:
- Concerts OR Sports → activation when either condition is met (OR logic within the same trigger type)
- Concerts AND Weather: Sunny → activation only when both conditions are met simultaneously (AND logic between different trigger types)
⚠️ Combining Event Trigger with Pulse is not recommended — it would significantly reduce buying combinations.
Insights View
After configuring the trigger, two metrics are available in the Insights view and update dynamically with every selection change:
| Metric | Description |
|---|---|
| Total selected events | Total number of unique events matching your category and date selection within the radius of your screens |
| Attendance | Estimated total number of people attending the selected events |
Event Calendar: A calendar view is available to visualize the number of broadcast hours covered each day around the selected events. This daily hours count directly drives capping calculations for the Line Item.

Limitations & Known Behaviors
- Search filters subcategories only, not category labels
- The Others subcategory groups events within a category that have no specific subcategory
- It is not possible to target a specific named event (e.g. Solidays Festival)
- The broadcast radius is set by PredictHQ and cannot be customized by the user
- Combining Event Trigger with Pulse is not recommended
FAQ
Why can't I see the Event trigger on my Line Item?
→ Check that your geographic targeting in Step 2 includes at least one screen in an eligible country (FR, DE, ES, BE).
What does the Others subcategory correspond to?
→ It groups all events within a category that don't belong to any named subcategory.
Does my frame selection change when I configure an Event trigger?
→ Yes. The frame selection and forecast update automatically to reflect only screens within the broadcast radius of matching events.
Can I combine the Event trigger with other triggers?
→ Yes. Combining with a different trigger type (e.g. Weather) applies AND logic — both conditions must be met simultaneously. Combining with Pulse is not recommended as it significantly reduces buying combinations.
When should I use the Event Trigger?
→ When you want to reach a specific audience in the physical world — at the right place, at the right moment. Use it to activate across a multitude of event types — conferences, sports, concerts, live shows, and more — all within a single Line Item.
