The campaign currency is the currency selected when creating a campaign. It determines how financial data is displayed across the platform, ensuring consistency in KPIs, reports, and budget tracking.
Important: The campaign currency currently only affects mono-currency campaigns. For multi-currency campaigns, it is stored for consistency and future enhancements, but it does not yet influence KPI display or reporting.
What is the Campaign Currency?
The Campaign Currency is used for:
-
Displaying KPIs and reports
-
Converting service costs
-
Showing budgets and expenses across different platform pages
-
Defining the currency of the Max Budget
⚠️ Once a campaign has been published, the currency cannot be modified to maintain data consistency. In other words, your campaign currency can only be modified when your campaign is in Draft status.
Make sure to choose the right currency before publishing.
What is a mono-currency campaign?
A campaign is considered mono-currency when all active (i.e. published) line items are set in the same currency — and that currency is the same as the campaign currency.
If your campaign:
- has several line items that are set in different currencies or,
- has several line items that are set in a unique currency that does not match the campaign currency,
Then your campaign is considered multi-currency. In this case, some platform features — like the display of KPIs — may become less accurate or unavailable.
Why does it matter?
When your campaign is considered mono-currency, the campaign currency is used to display KPIs, budgets, and reports consistently across the platform.
This ensures data clarity and avoids discrepancies that may arise from currency conversions.
⚠️ If your campaign includes published line items in multiple currencies, it will be considered multi-currency — and some platform features like KPI display in the Campaign Summary will no longer be available.
How does it work?
When you create a new campaign, the campaign currency field will be filled with the billing currency associated with your agency, by default. This field cannot be empty, so you will need to select a currency to proceed.
If you are creating a mono-currency campaign, we recommend aligning the campaign currency with your line items’ currency to ensure the best data visibility.
Please note: The campaign currency does not have to be the same as the billing currency.
If the two differ, an average monthly exchange rate — provided by the Banque de France — will be applied to convert all financial data from the campaign currency to the billing currency for invoicing purposes.
This ensures consistent and transparent reporting across currencies.
How to Edit the Campaign Currency?
You can change the Campaign Currency only if the campaign is still in Draft:
-
Via the Campaign Lister: Click the Edit icon 📝, select a new currency, then click Next and Save Campaign.
-
Via the Campaign Summary: Click the Edit Campaign icon next to the Share button in the header.
Additional rules to keep in mind:
-
The field is mandatory: every campaign must have a campaign currency assigned.
-
You can still have draft line items in a different currency than your campaign currency, but this might result in less optimal KPI display.
-
If you change the campaign currency while having draft line items in other currencies, a confirmation modal will warn you. You’ll be encouraged to align the currencies of your draft line items to keep the campaign in mono-currency status — which ensures optimal KPI display and unified reporting.
Does the campaign currency impact multi-currency campaigns?
Not yet. For now, the campaign currency is only used to improve the display and consistency of mono-currency campaigns. In multi-currency setups, the field is stored but has no functional impact.
Can I change the campaign currency later?
Only if your campaign is still in Draft status. Once published, the currency is locked to ensure consistency in data, budget, and reporting.
My line items are in a different currency than my campaign currency, is that a problem?
As long as these line items are still in Draft, it’s not an issue. However, once published, they will affect whether your campaign is considered mono- or multi-currency, and impact data visibility accordingly.
